well my daughter has passed her test today, is it worth asking the insurence for her to be put on as she's only 17? or is that too young for a galaxy? also i am right to think she can remove the L plates from her moped?

NO she can't ride her moped without L plates.....

"Moped Licence Requirements

Mopeds are up to 50cc with a maximum speed of 50 km/h.

To ride a moped, learners MUST

be 16 or over

have a provisional moped licence

complete CBT training.

You MUST first pass the theory test for motorcycles and then the moped practical test to obtain your full moped licence.

If you passed your driving test before 1 February 2001 you are qualified to ride a moped without L plates (and/or D plates in Wales), although it is recommended that you complete CBT before riding on the road. If you passed your driving test after this date you MUST complete CBT before riding a moped on the road.

Laws MV(DL)R reg 43"

tut you beat me too it.

as said - you cant remove the L plates from her moped, unless shes passed the moped tests (theory) - if you study her photo licence carefully, along with a little licence leaflet - this is clearly stated.

as with the galaxys insurance...

i have done pass plus, and i am now 18 (but i have been insured since i was 17) on the galaxy - it cost roughly

Yep.... She should have had her CBT before riding it on the road with L Plates, then to remove L Plates she needs to pass her Motorcycle theory test and then her Moped practical. Bummer

It's for their own safety though. They would stand less of a chance of living if involved in an accident because they didnt have the correct road training!

It's always cheaper on the Internet because they don't have to pay a call centre worker to talk to you. Most insurance companies discount Internet sales.

Basically you need to find a car under 1000cc's to get any chance of a reasonable insurance cost. As for "mickey mouse" companies - you watch them if you need to claim - all of a sudden they turn distinctly mousey! (in fact Ratty)

Yeah, well done!

I would get her insured on the galaxy if you think she needs to be, after all, its still 4 wheels and a board.
